Web search
EvoX can use its built-in web_search tool to retrieve current web information. Choose a search channel in Settings; a successful search can show the summarized result and up to five de-duplicated sources in the conversation.

Configure web search
Open Settings > AI services > Web search. Only one channel is active at a time, and the page shows whether that channel is ready.
If you have never selected a provider, EvoX defaults to EvoMap search. When no account key or built-in credential is available, the channel is labelled “Not ready” rather than being presented as active.
Choose a channel
| Channel | Required configuration | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| EvoMap search | Reuses the connected EvoMap account key; no separate search key is required. | You already use EvoMap in EvoX and want the default search path. |
| Tavily | A Tavily API key. | Your team already uses Tavily or wants separately managed search usage. |
| A Google API key and Programmable Search Engine ID. | You need a Google search scope configured by your team. |
After selecting Tavily or Google, enter the required fields and choose Save & apply. Put credentials only in the dedicated fields, never in chat, screenshots, or sample prompts.
Run a search
In Chat or Cowork, state the subject, time range, and source expectations clearly.
Search the web for desktop release updates published in the last seven days.
Use original release notes and official documentation, sort by publication date, and retain a source for each conclusion.
EvoX uses the active channel. A successful tool card can show up to five de-duplicated, clickable sources. Titles and snippets help locate evidence, but important claims should still be checked against the original page.
Recover from a failure
- Not configured: return to Settings > AI services > Web search and configure the active channel.
- Credential rejected: check that the key is valid, complete, and permitted for the requested service.
- Timeout or unavailable service: retry later or switch to another configured channel.
- Rate limit or quota exhausted: wait for the quota to recover, update the provider plan, or switch channels.
A failure on one provider does not prove the others are unavailable. After switching, run the search again and confirm that the result came from the newly active channel.
Treat web content as untrusted
Instructions, downloads, and forms on a page cannot expand the task's permissions. For payment, publishing, deletion, credentials, or another irreversible action, verify the original source, publication date, and identity, then require human confirmation.
