Settings

Connect models, adjust the interface and response style, and manage browsers, messaging channels, and local services. Open Settings from the app menu, or press ⌘ + , on macOS or Ctrl + , on Windows.

This page groups settings by everyday use. Some options depend on your operating system, connected services, or app version and appear only when available.

Appearance

Open Settings > Appearance to adjust the theme, language, font size, and message presentation. For long reading sessions, choose a light or dark theme suited to your surroundings, then adjust text size. Reduce motion and turn off typing sounds for a quieter workspace.

Interface language and response language are separate preferences. To have EvoX consistently reply in a particular language, specify it in your collaboration profile or task instructions rather than only changing the menu language.

Sound and notifications

Settings > Appearance > Sound feedback offers options including off, important events, and typing sounds. Choose important events for occasional cues or turn feedback off for silence.

Sound feedback and operating-system notification permission are managed separately. On macOS, if response notifications have been denied, Appearance shows a permission notice with a link to system settings. Return to EvoX after granting permission to trigger another status check. If the notification service is unavailable, follow the guidance to inspect logs or restart instead of repeatedly changing sound preferences.

Pet bubbles have a separate visibility toggle. Turning bubbles off does not stop running tasks. See Notifications for more detail.

AI services and usage

Open Settings > AI services to manage model providers, connection instances, and credentials. To configure a model:

1. Select a service and sign in or supply its required API credentials.
2. For a custom endpoint, check the endpoint URL, compatible format, and model name.
3. Save and run a connection test. If it fails, check credentials, the endpoint, and network proxy settings.
4. Select an available model in a conversation and send a short request to confirm it responds.

A provider can have multiple connection configurations. Confirm the instance before editing so you do not overwrite your everyday connection with a test endpoint or another account's credentials.

Switch to Usage to inspect calls within a selected time range. In Code, /cost also opens this page. Pricing configuration is available for cost calculations; estimated costs do not replace the provider's actual bill.

Web search

Choose a channel under AI services > Web search. A working model connection does not mean every external search channel is configured.

Select the channel, enter and save its configuration, then verify it with a search request. Enter credentials in their dedicated fields rather than including them in conversation examples or screenshots.

Model selection

Settings > Model selection configures how models divide the work. To use different models for different task difficulties, enable difficulty-based switching, assign models to the tiers, and select a default tier and a long-conversation summary model.

Connect providers in AI services first. If a provider is missing or a model cannot be resolved, repair that connection before configuring routing. Selecting a tier name alone does not give it a working model.

The long-conversation summary model handles summaries during context compaction and can differ from the model doing the task. After making changes, use a new conversation to check the resulting selection.

Personalization

Open Settings > Personalization to manage your collaboration profile, output style, and adaptive responses. Each serves a different purpose:

• Collaboration profile: gives EvoX context about your name, language, and collaboration preferences. Recorded text fields are summarized here; follow the link to Memory to edit them. Personality dimensions are edited in the profile panel.
• Output style: select a preset or create your own. You can also ask EvoX to help draft a style, then review it before use.
• Adaptive responses: choose whether response adaptation is enabled and how it operates. Read the mode descriptions and start a new conversation when prompted to verify changes.

A style can apply separately to conversation titles, scheduled-task names, reply tone, and deliverable copy. For example, make report copy more formal without also changing conversation titles.

If the panel reports “saved but not applied,” use its retry or service-status entry. Saving a configuration and having the running service adopt it are not necessarily the same step.

Browser and Cowork

Open Settings > Cowork to configure the working directory and browser. Browser identity determines which environment EvoX uses:

After switching to everyday Chrome, check extension detection and authorization status. Installing the extension and authorizing a connection are separate steps. See Use everyday Chrome for the full flow.

The built-in browser also provides settings for link destinations, session storage, allowed sites, and clearing browsing data. Read the confirmation scope before clearing data, as websites may require another sign-in. If the browser environment is unavailable, use the panel's retry action first.

Connections and group monitoring

Settings > Connections connects messaging channels and manages each instance's credentials, model, and run mode. Confirm the instance name before editing. After saving, check its status, reconnect when prompted, and verify sending and receiving in the relevant channel.

Settings > Group monitoring manages the groups you selected for monitoring. Check synchronization status, view messages, open archives, and choose where monitoring archives are stored.

Connecting a messaging channel and monitoring a particular group are separate actions. The monitoring source requires account authorization. If messages are missing, check source readiness and group synchronization before adding the same connection again.

Conversation history

Open Settings > Conversation history and switch between archived conversations and the trash.

• Archive: puts conversations aside with the option to restore them later.
• Trash: shows deleted conversations that are still recoverable. Check the target carefully before permanent deletion.
• Session-state snapshots: provide an additional way to recover conversation state. They are not file backups; restoring session state does not restore every file in a project.

Distinguish putting a conversation aside from deleting it. Use archive when you only want a tidier sidebar.

What AI can do

This panel lets you inspect and edit tool, path, and workspace permission rules, and use the policy simulator to inspect how a hypothetical request would be evaluated.

Rule management is currently a preview and does not yet govern live tool-call approvals. Adding an allow rule, trusting a workspace, or seeing a successful simulation does not authorize automatic execution of future tasks. Check the conversation's approval mode and actual confirmation requests during a run.

Export is available for diagnostics. Reset removes your rules and folder trust, but does not remove organization-managed rules. See Permissions for approval behavior.

Desktop pet

Settings > Appearance controls pet bubbles. The pet's visibility and appearance editor are accessed from the bottom of the sidebar: click the Desktop pet label to open the editor or the monitor icon on the same row to show or hide the pet.

The editor combines colors, fur, expressions, and outfits, with motion previews. Click Apply to save after trying an appearance. See Pets for the full demonstration.

Advanced and Labs

Settings > Advanced brings together updates, background services, command-line setup, diagnostics, and proxy configuration. Start with the area related to the problem:

Supported macOS devices also show a keep-running-with-lid-closed option. Read the power and cooling guidance and confirm the status is active. It cannot replace a network connection or keep tasks running after shutdown.

Labs offers features available in your version. Save work and restart when the interface requests it; not every settings change requires an app restart.

Before clearing history or resetting the app, read the deletion scope in the confirmation dialog. Restarting a service, clearing data, and restoring defaults are different operations. Do not start connection troubleshooting by resetting all data.

A setting did not apply

Reopen the panel to confirm the change was saved, then look for an unapplied-configuration notice, connection failure, or organization-policy restriction. Retry, reconnect, or restart the relevant service as directed.

If an option is absent, check your operating system, version, and enabled features. Open the shortcut reference with ⌘ + /, Ctrl + /, or /keybindings in Code; it is not a key-binding editor inside Settings. See Commands for other entries and Troubleshooting for diagnostic steps.
