Pets

Keep evo on your desktop to follow chat activity and combine EvoX-provided parts into an appearance of your own.

EvoX Desktop

The desktop pet is a lightweight status surface outside the main app. It changes its motion with chat activity, shows a bubble when a reply is ready or needs your confirmation, and can be dragged, poked, or hidden at any time.

Use the desktop pet

When enabled, the pet floats on the desktop. Drag evo to reposition it; moving the pointer close makes it peek toward you. Left-click to interact, and keep clicking to trigger stronger reactions.

Right-click the pet to open a small menu where you can open the EvoX main window or hide the pet. The pet helps you notice and return to existing work, but the conversation and run record remain the source of complete task details.

Show or hide the pet

Find Desktop pet at the bottom of the EvoX sidebar:

  1. Click the text area to open evo's appearance editor.
  2. Click the monitor icon on the same row to show or hide the desktop pet.

You can also choose Show desktop pet or Hide desktop pet from the EvoX system-tray menu. When the pet is visible, right-click it and choose Hide desktop pet to dismiss it directly.

Edit evo's appearance

EvoX customization does not create an entirely new pet from scratch. It lets you combine official colours, fluff, expressions, body parts, and outfits on the shared evo form. Click the Desktop pet text area at the bottom of the sidebar to open Edit appearance.

Current appearance applied
Interactive appearance-editor example based on the current EvoX Desktop colours, parts, and controls.
CategoryWhat you can change
ColourChoose from eight body palettes: Ink, Ocean, Moss, Ember, Plum, Rose, Sand, and Slate.
Crown fluffCombine the provided crown-fluff styles and adjust the fluff colour.
Cheek fluffChange the fluff combination on both sides of the face.
ExpressionChoose Round eyes, Almond eyes, Wide eyes, Slit pupils, Square eyes, or Bead eyes; drag to tune eye width and height; and set the eye colour.
Paws & antennaSwap the provided paws, antenna, and related body parts to fit the current look.
OutfitAdd hats, eyewear, capes, gloves, and halos, then adjust fabric or glove colours.

Changes first enter a try-on state. Select Apply to save the result. If you leave with unapplied changes, EvoX asks whether to keep editing or discard them. Undo, Redo, and Restore defaults are available at the top for comparing ideas or returning to the original combination.

Preview poses and motions

The appearance editor can check an outfit in different poses and motions. Preview choices do not become part of the saved appearance.

  • Poses: Stand, Wave, Work, and Rest.
  • Motions: Still, Breathe, Look around, Stretch, Head tilt, Hop, Doze, Greet, Peek, Listen, Think, Work, Excited, Startle, Bored, New message, and Dizzy.

After changing a hat, cape, or fluff style, preview it while standing, working, and moving so the combination is not judged from a single still frame.

Interact with evo

evo responds to the pointer and repeated clicks:

  • Moving the pointer nearby makes evo peek toward it.
  • The first click starts a basic interaction; continued clicks progress through Startle, Excited, and Dizzy reactions.
  • Drag evo to a more useful location on the current display.

These interactions only affect the current motion. They do not edit the appearance or create a new conversation.

Understand work state

The pet translates current chat activity into recognizable motion:

Pet behaviorMeaning
ThinkOne conversation is currently working.
WorkMultiple conversations are working at the same time.
New messageA reply is ready, or a conversation is waiting for your confirmation.
Idle motionsWith no work to highlight, evo may look around, stretch, or doze.

Motion is a quick signal, not the complete task record. Return to the relevant conversation to inspect results, errors, or confirmation details.

Completion and confirmation bubbles

When a reply finishes, evo shows a Reply's ready bubble. When an operation needs approval or confirmation, it shows a Need your go-ahead bubble. Selecting the bubble returns to the conversation that produced it instead of creating a new one.

When the desktop pet is available, EvoX prefers these bubbles for chat activity. If the pet is hidden or unavailable, the same events fall back to system notifications.

Reduce motion

Turn on Reduce motion in Settings > Appearance, or enable the operating system's reduced-motion preference. Pet motions then use a single representative frame, and animated previews in the appearance editor stop looping. Appearance, status, and bubble features remain available.
