Letting the Harness Pick the Right Skill for You
The core problem is not a lack of Skills. It is deciding which Skill belongs to which part of a multi-step job. Vibe-Skills first clarifies the requested deliverable, then decomposes the work and considers configured Skill folders. Only retained candidates need their full SKILL.md content loaded.
Useful task inputs include:
Plan a reproducible data analysis, assign local Skills to each deliverable, and verify the final files.

How Automatic Skill Routing Actually Decides
Discovery and execution are separate. A readable Skill can enter the candidate index without being assigned. The router uses compact metadata such as a Skill's name, description, intended use, and boundaries to shortlist options. It then ties selected Skills to work units, expected outputs, and checks.
This is not a promise that the first routing decision is always correct. Ambiguous requirements, overlapping Skill descriptions, and missing boundaries can still produce a poor match. Make the requested output and acceptance conditions explicit.

Orchestrating a Multi-Skill Workflow in One Go
Use a four-part workflow:
- State the deliverables and the checks that define completion.
- Let Vibe-Skills discover and shortlist suitable local Skills.
- Review the proposed assignments before execution begins.
- Inspect the final acceptance report and resolve failed checks.
Example input with an output contract:
Build a launch package. Return a work plan, Skill assignment for every work unit, produced file list, and a PASS or FAIL acceptance summary.
The project records plans, execution, and acceptance separately. A successful installation does not prove the workflow ran, and a completed work unit does not prove final acceptance passed.
Installing Vibe-Skills Alongside Your Existing Skills
Follow the official Vibe-Skills simple-install guide. Download the current public release ZIP, verify its published SHA-256, and extract it outside the managed Skills directory. From the extracted release folder, run:

The expected DSH entry is ~/.dsh/skills/vibe/SKILL.md. Reload DSH if it scans Skills only at startup, invoke vibe through the host's Skill entry, and confirm that it discovers a known local Skill. Extra roots belong in ~/.vibeskills/skill-roots.json or the workspace-level equivalent. The install check proves local file integrity, not that a production workflow passed acceptance.
Compatibility note verified 2026-09-28: the official Harness repository still labels DSH a developer preview with compatibility-breaking changes expected. Re-run the VibeSkills install check after upgrading.
Turn a Successful Route Into Reusable Experience
Vibe-Skills coordinates local Skills, while EvoMap separately organizes verified agent assets. After people approve the assignments and acceptance record, they can explicitly package the route for reuse; the EvoMap Wiki explains the asset model. Use mem9 when the workflow also needs shared memory.
